Dreams for 2017
It’s been awhile since I’ve written about dreams or even shared some of mine. When this year started I shared my original 27 Dreams for the Golden Year. Then, when my birthday came I realized, this is when the golden year technically starts so, I working on a revamp for that which I’ll share soon and very soon. Today, I want to share the dreams I have for the rest of 2017. We only have little under 2 months but that doesn’t mean the dreams have to stop. So, here’s what I’m wanting to pursue for the rest of 2017:
1. Finish my novel
This is the big one. Out of this list, if this one dream happens, I’d be happy. Truly and completely. My goal is to finish it by December 31st. It’s been a process y’all. I intentionally decided to take this project slow because I know how much it carries. This novel has ebbed and flowed in such beautiful and challenging ways. I look forward to having the first draft completed in less than a month. Finger crossed and prayers up!
2. Actively develop a healthy lifestyle
So, I took some action here by joining a gym in July. I hit a major slump from end of August through September. But, I’m back and ready to take this full on. The biggest thing I want to honestly cultivate by the end of the year is consistency in working out. I do want to make transitions in my eating habits, but I really want to get my body comfortable and in the habit of going to the gym. I started off way high, biting off more than I can chew. Now, I’m okay with only going 2-3 times a week and letting my body find its rhythm.
3. Write letters consistently
But seriously. I think about it at least once a week, so by the end of this year, I want to get back into my habit of writing letters. I love it so much and miss penning my thoughts to dear friends.
4. Bake an apple pie from scratch
I love apple pie. I also enjoy baking. So naturally, baking an apple pie from scratch makes sense.
5. Perfect my chocolate cake
In 2015, I made a chocolate cake from scratch and while it was good, there are so many things that could make it better. So, I want to revisit this baked good and make it perfect!
6. Explore other creative outlets
It’s easy to fall into one creative expression and there’s nothing wrong with that, but I want to take risks this year and try out other things like painting, pottery, glass blowing, maybe even a little photography or film directing. Who knows!
7. Go on a day trip/weekend trip
I love traveling y’all. This year I got to live out a dream from the original dream list. It was incredible. While traveling internationally is unforgettable, there are so many cities and towns in the US that I want to explore and spend more time in. It would be DREAMY to do a day trip or a weekend getaway to a city and discover its secrets and history.
With a little under 2 months left to 2017, what are some dreams you want to pursue or are still pursuing?
